    What’s interesting about H&M?

The first renowned designer to work with H&M on this campaign was Karl Lagerfeld. In 2004, the German launched a black and white range, with the model Erin Wasson as the face the collection. The collaboration with Lagerfeld was meant to be a one-off but was so successful that a year later the company called on Britain’s Stella McCartney. Kate Moss was intended as the face of that collection but was dropped when her drug scandal hit the headlines. In 2006 it was the turn of the Dutch duo Viktor & Rolf, designers of H&M’s first wedding dress. With a price tag of €298, the thousand copies made sold out in hours. Another hit was the 2007 collection, created by Italian designer Roberto Cavalli. In 2008, H&M teamed up with Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, and in 2009, with three famous designers in one production: Matthew Williamson, Jimmy Choo and Sonia Rykiel. The latter also returned in 2010, together with Lanvin. In 2011, it was the turn of the House of Versace, and Donatella launched a collection inspired by the bright colours of the 1980s. Versace returned the next year to work with Marni, Maison Martin Margiela, the fashionista Anna Dello Russo and former footballer David Beckham. In 2015, young Frenchman Olivier Rousteing, who heads Balmain, was guest designer for a 110-piece collection that has been the most profitable and successful of the eleven to date.

H&M: The first store opened in 1947 in Sweden. There are now more than 3,700 in 61 countries with online purchasing available in a further 21 markets.
