What’s interesting about KFC?

KFC chicken has a legion of fans. Around the world, people have been trying to divine the recipe to copy that legendary crunchy texture, with some posting their efforts online. Here is one such attempt from the blog Indian Healthy Recipes. Enjoy!

  1. Use either chicken fillets or drumsticks. Wash well and drain excess water.
  2. In a deep plate, add garlic, lemon juice, red chilli powder, turmeric, rosemary, pepper, salt, flour, egg and garam masala. Coat the chicken in this mix.
  3. If there’s time, refrigerate the chicken for 45 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle on bread crumbs and set aside for 10 minutes to allow them to stick well.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the pieces over medium heat till golden brown. If the oil is very hot, the chicken will brown too fast and not be cooked inside. The heat should only be medium high.
  6. Remove the chicken from the oil and serve with tomato sauce (ketchup).
